Fresh from the victory over Chennaiyin FC, ATK Mohun Bagan is all set to face a rejuvenated North East United FC in another exciting game of Hero ISL. It’s a crucial game for both the teams as they will be eager to add valid points to their quest for playoffs spots.
After yesterday’s result of Mumbai City, ATK MB will try not to lose points. If they don’t, they will have to depend on Mumbai City to drop points for securing the first place. Against North East United, I want ATK MB to play like how they played against Chennaiyin. They were so positive in their approach and it’s the first time they played constructive football for whole 90 minutes, this season. I expect them to approach this fixture too in a more positive way like that and I hope, they win.
Habas may start with the same 11 from the last match and David Williams can impact the game more if he plays in an attacking position. He has been a game changer for ATK MB whenever he is subbed on from the bench and expect the same for today’s match. It’s an important game for Roy Krishna, as he had gone goalless for six matches. Eventhough he didn’t score, he always gives his best for the team and that’s why he is always a shot away from scoring and it’s upto the team to feed him more chances.
This game is more important for North East as they need to climb up the points table. They are also coming from a well earned win and having watched their previous game, I can expect them to give a tough fight to ATK MB. Northeast United has always been a team of unpredictablity and they can surprise you anytime and remember, they are on a bounce after the arrival of new gaffer.
National team Coach Igor Stimac credited Manvir Singh for his improvement in hold up play after the switch to ATKMB and I expect him to get better and better. It’s not only Manvir, you can take the examples of V.P.Suhair and Lalmengmawia too! This is why I always said it’s important to get game time (irrespective of the playing position) at the highest level and from here, which will help to build their momentum. This season is more of a trial period for the next considering the fact that there are only four foreigners to be allowed in the 11. It’s always heartening to see when teams field more Indians in the main 11.
it’s a must win for both sides and my bet is on ATK MB because they have more at stake and they can’t afford to drop points.
